The final tournament, expanded to a field of 12 teams for 2017, consists of three groups of four. Teams play each other once in the group, with the winners and the best runner-up advancing to the semi-finals, where it becomes a knockout competition.
- Draw system
Hosts Poland were placed in position one of Group A, with the rest of the 11 qualifiers ranked by coefficient. The top two, Germany and Poland, formed Pot 1 and were drawn into the first positions in Groups B and C.
The next three teams – England, Spain and Denmark – were in Pot 2. The remainder, including holders Sweden, were in Pot 3 and were picked to fill two positions each in the three groups before Pot 2 was drawn.
