The political consequences of Brexit

British voters decided to exit the EU in a referendum earlier this year, the so-called ‘Brexit’. The UK government has said that it plans to start formal negotiations by triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty by April next year.
The European Ideas Network hosted a debate between MEPs, experts and academics about the political consequences of Brexit. EPP Group MEP Paulo Rangel was pessimistic about the negotiations and attacked the Conservative Party for its idea of compiling lists of foreign citizens in companies and universities.
