THE LATEST IN FIRE SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES

From Improved Detection Accuracy to Strobe Light Alarms Learn About the Technologies You Will Be Glad We Have But Never Want to Use

Fire Prevention Week commemorates the Great Chicago Fire, which started on October 9, 1871.This tragic fire killed about 300 people, left 100,000 homeless and destroyed more than 17,000 structures.  Sadly, it usually requires a disaster of this level to teach us how to be prepared in the future.

Since the 1970s, some 90,000 lives have been saved based on the advancement of smoke detection, fire sprinklers, fire safety codes and operational excellence with our fire service.  But when we think of fire safety, we usually think of our homes.  But what about where you work?  Where your children go to school?  Do you think of fire safety when you are in a hotel on vacation?  When it comes to high-rise buildings or densely populated facilities like hospitals, nursing homes, schools and dormitories, fire prevention and detection are especially important.  In addition, evacuating people in the event of an emergency can be particularly challenging.

Dan Finnegan is a 40-year veteran of the fire safety industry and today continues to help develop National Fire Safety Codes and Standards and increase fire safety awareness.  He is available to talk to your viewers about the latest development in fire detection technologies as well as the systems that help citizens and first responders in the event of an emergency.  Dan will be joined Bob Morris, Executive Director of the Illinois Fire Inspectors Association and Fire Marshal of the Roselle Fire Department in Roselle, IL who will talk about Fire Prevention Week and the importance of fire detection devices and carbon monoxide detectors in both the workplace and at home.
