SEAT And Harvard Join Forces To Promote A Study On Healthy Nutrition

Barcelona, 18/07/2016.- SEAT and Harvard University are partnering on a new collaborative endeavour. Harvard professor and director of the Occupational Health programme Dr. Stefanos N. Kales, SEAT President Luca de Mea, and Human Resources Vice-president Xavier Ros, met to promote an alliance to carry out a joint research project at SEAT into occupational health and healthy nutrition related with the Mediterranean diet. In addition, this partnership will enable the future creation of a post-doctorate programme specialising in occupational medicine at SEAT under the supervision of professors from this prestigious university.

At the meeting, Dr. Kales pointed out that “partnering with SEAT is a wonderful opportunity to develop new lines of research and cooperation to analyse how to improve health, personal well-being and productivity at the same time”.

According to SEAT Vice-president for Human Resources Xavier Ros,”being able to partner with an institution as prestigious as Harvard is a unique opportunity for SEAT. We share the same goal of looking for new ways to promote the well-being of our more than 14,000 employees, so fostering research is essential”.

During his visit to the company, Dr. Kales also toured the SEAT factories as well as the various medical services in the facilities.

SEAT is a Healthy Workplace

One of SEAT’s major priorities is the effective management of workers’ health. The company currently has a medical team staffed by 31health professionals who are specialised in occupational medicine and nursing, cardiology and traumatology, which provides service to the company’s eight medical centres. These facilities perform roughly 12,000 medical examinations every year.

The company also has two internal ambulances and an emergency medical team 24/7, 365 days a year. In addition, by the end of this year the new CARS health care and rehabilitation centre is expected to open. This innovative centre will have an extension of 1,300 square metres and feature three areas of activity- healthcare, preventative medicine and rehabilitation.

Furthermore, this year SEAT was presented with the “HeaIthy Workplace” certification, making it the only company in the industry in Spain to hold this recognition. The certification, which is awarded by AENOR, is promoted internationally by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and takes into consideration a management system that fosters and protects health, safety and well-being in the workplace.
