READY, SET, BANK™: ONLINE BANKING MADE EASY WITH LYNNETTE KHALFANI-COX

Free video-based training classes, your bank is just a click away

Mobile banking use in the U.S. is on the rise, but its usage among older adults lags the rest of the population. According to a recent Federal Reserve Board report, only 18% of adults over 60 use mobile banking. The Consumer Federal Protection Bureau says seniors lost about $2.9 billion in 2013 as a result of financial scams.

Online banking has the power to transform the way older adults manage their money, protect themselves from fraud and make banking easier — from depositing checks and transferring money to loved ones, to automatically paying routine bills. The Money Coach®, Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, tells us – and our older loved ones – about the benefits of banking online, and how we can take free classes to become smarter financial consumers.

Lynnette Khalfani-Cox discusses:

  • The landscape of online banking among older adults including banking scams that target older adults and how to prevent them from becoming targets
  • The benefits and importance of online banking
  • New, free classes in banking online, you can watch from any computer, tablet, or smartphone (www.readysetbank.org)
  • Additionally, in partnership with local non-profit organizations, Capital One will provide Ready, Set, Bank classes in Boston, New York, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles this fall.
