Expert Advice For Busy Homeowners On What To Do When Things Go Wrong How To Prepare, Protect and Maintain Your Home
When something goes wrong in your house, it doesn’t just affect your house…it affects your life. Routine home maintenance and, certainly, unforeseen problems can lead to stressful situations for homeowners who have increasingly less time to deal with repairs. They want convenient access to trusted solutions where they can select services for their home or business on their terms.
A recent survey conducted by ServiceMaster, a leading provider of residential and commercial services, found that more than half of homeowners and prospective homeowners say they feel unprepared to address home maintenance needs (58%); and 54% aren’t very knowledgeable about home maintenance in general.

Findings from the recent 2016 ServiceMaster Experience Homeowner Survey:

- Nearly all (92%) homeowners and prospective homeowners say it would be useful to have one resource to help with the following home maintenance needs: deep cleaning, structural repair due to weather damage, furniture repair, electrical, plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning), water damage/flooding, pest control.
- Two-fifths (41%) of homeowners and prospective homeowners say they wouldn’t know who to call if they had a home maintenance need in the next three months, and four-fifths (83%) wish they could find one resource that could reliably help them with all of their needs.
- Over the last five years, homeowners have called in the professionals an average of four times to assist with home maintenance, spending an average of $2,201.80.
- Advice on how homeowner’s can prepare for both routine and un-planned home maintenance needs: (roofing, weather/flood repairs, deep cleaning, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and pest-control) How to evaluate the situation and know when it’s appropriate to call an expert.
- Practical tips for protecting and maintaining a home. What do homeowners, particularly newer ones, need to know in order to help minimize the risk and/or impact of something going wrong.
