DON’T LET HOLIDAY HAZARDS HIT TOO CLOSE TO HOME!

NEW POLL FINDS AMERICANS COULD DO MORE TO PROTECT THEIR PURCHASES AND PROPERTY

As the holiday purchases, decorations and recipes pile up for the most wonderful time of the year, so do the number of insurance claims.

According to an Allstate poll, released just in time for the season, despite 70 percent of adults acknowledging the uptick in home hazards during the holidays, just 37 percent say they take additional steps to protect themselves.

The survey also finds:

  • Two-thirds admit to having valuables delivered to their home while they’re not there.
  • Sixty percent have stored or hidden valuables in their car.
  • Nearly 30 percent have left a real Christmas tree without water for more than three days.
  • One-third have left the house or fallen asleep while the stove was on.
  • Just more than a quarter of those who use a fireplace during the holidays have had it cleaned or inspected in the past year.

In this interview, Allstate agency owner Frank Torres will share his tips to help Americans enjoy a hazard-free holiday season.
