NEW POLL REVEALS AMERICANS BELIEVE AN ALL-HANDS-ON-DECK APPROACH WILL MOVE AMERICA FORWARD
Americans may be frustrated by political gridlock in Washington, but they are optimistic a collaboration between entities closer to home will move the country forward. That’s one of the major findings in the 26th Allstate-Atlantic Media Heartland Monitor Poll – released just in time for the kick off of the 2016 general election.
Some of the survey’s key findings:
- 63% of Americans say the 2016 presidential election is more important than past elections.
- Almost half of Americans (47%) are looking beyond the federal government to tackle the issues, instead looking to an innovative partnership between a combination of businesses, state and local governments, non-profits and individuals to move the country forward.
- Americans ARE more positive toward their personal financial situations with one in 10 saying they have an excellent personal financial situation.
- Thirty-seven percent of Americans are saving more money than they did before the economic crash of 2008.

Since 2009, Allstate and the National Journal have given voice to Americans’ anxieties about the economy and expectations for the future. For the past eight years, that has meant polling Americans about issues important for all families including economic opportunities, homeownership and the American dream and retirement. Recent polls have shifted to explore a variety of topics such as work-life balance; attitudes about local innovation; and volunteerism and civic engagement.
